Randy Calhoun

Randall "Randy" Wayne Calhoun, 58, of Mt. Pleasant, IA passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at Mercy Hospital, Cedar Rapids, IA from a ruptured abdominal aneurysm. A visitation will be held from 1 p.m. - 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 14, 2015, at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel where the family will receive friends from 2-5 p.m. that afternoon. A private service will be held at a later date. A memorial has been established to Great River Hospice in appreciation of their great care for Randy's brother, Eddy Dean Calhoun. Born September 4, 1956, Randall Wayne was the son of Edman Wayne and Neoma (Herbert) Calhoun. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant Community High School. On May 19, 1979, he married Joan Marie Thompson in Mt. Pleasant. They later divorced. Together they had three children. Randy had served in the Iowa National Guard. He began his career working construction. He was later employed as a correctional officer at the Mt. Pleasant Correctional Facility. Most recently, he proudly owned and operated RWC Trucking. Randy was generous with his time and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He often went for rides on his motorcycle. Those who knew him wouldn't be surprised to find him wearing a grease covered shirt wrenching on anything mechanical or doling out a good natured ribbing. A devoted father, he especially enjoyed spending time with his children. Preceding him in death are his parents; and a brother, Eddy Dean Calhoun. Survivors include two sons, Clinton (Shelby) Calhoun and Scott (Kelly) Calhoun all of Mt. Pleasant, IA; a daughter, Ann Calhoun (Brandon Mann) of Prairie du Sac, WI; two grandchildren, Emma and Allison; two brothers, Denny (Syd) Calhoun of Summerville, MO and Ronald (Connie) Calhoun of Raymondville, MO; five nieces, Jennifer, Shelly, Jill, Miranda and Kaitlyn; and his beloved dog, Precious.
