WEBSTER- Ralph H. Schlicht, was born June 6, 1931, in Reinbeck, Iowa, the son of Herman J. And Vera (Willer) Schlicht Jr.. He graduated from Reinbeck High School and Iowa State University in Ames. He was in the US Navy from 1950-1954, where he was an airman on the USS Valley Forge. On June 3, 1954, he was united in marriage to Martha Jane Fry, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. He farmed and taught school for 2 years at English Valley High School, where he started the Vo-Ag program. He was a member of the Webster United Methodist Church, the Webb Lodge, Masons and Farm Bureau. He enjoyed model trains and woodworking. Ralph died on Wednesday, December 31, 2008, at the Sigourney Care Center, following an extended illness at the age of 77 years. He is survived by his wife Martha Jane of Webster; a brother Francis Schlicht of Cedar Rapids, IA; a stepsister Geneen Heinrich of Wellsburg, IA; 2 step brothers- Dennis Larsen of Cedar Rapids, IA and Dallas Larsen of Rogers, AR; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a half brother Claire Schlicht. Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:30 am on Saturday, January 3, 2009, at the Webster United Methodist Church in Webster. Rev. John Tunnicliff will officiate. Graveside services will be held 9:30 am on Saturday, at the Sorden Cemetery near Keswick, IA with military rites. Visitation will be on Friday, January 2, 2009, from 3- 7 pm with a Masons Service at 7:00 pm at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North English.
