Williamsburg- Phyllis Snoddy Jellings, was born November 28, 1917, on a farm near Williamsburg, IA. She was the daughter of Charles Otto Romberg and Sarah Elizabeth Brawner Romberg. At the age of 8, the family moved to a farm near Kinross where she graduated from High School in 1935. After attending Iowa Success Business School in Ottumwa, she was employed as a book-keeper in Pulaski, IA. until moving to Washington D. C. in 1939. Here she worked for the Merchant Marine Department until her marriage to Jack Snoddy on September 18, 1943 in Lake Charles, LA. Jack was serving in the Army Air Corps. After his discharge in 1946, the family lived Cedar Rapids, IA. until moving to Williamsburg in 1949. Here she worked at Farmer's Trust and Savings Bank for nearly 20 years, retiring in November 1983. Jack passed away May 4, 1993. Phyllis later married Donald L. Jellings on August 15, 2000, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA and then made their home in Oelwein, IA. Don passed away August 18, 2005. Phyllis then moved back to Williamsburg. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Williamsburg, the United Methodist Women's Society and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed music of any kind, playing cards, crossword puzzles and traveling. Phyllis died Sunday, May 1, 2011, at the University of Iowa Hospitals after a short illness, at the age of 93. In her passing, she leaves two daughters, Joan (Gary) Keiser of Williamsburg, IA and Jill (Carl) Wycoff of Neveda, IA, stepson, Jerry (Mary) Jellings of Oelwein, IA. and stepdaughter Jill (Steve) Lueken of Colesburg, IA. Also seven grandchildren; Brian Keiser of Atlanta, GA., Shelly (Joe) Westfall of Williamsburg, IA. Douglas (Brenda) Keiser of Bentonville, AR., Jennifer (Michael) Sibley of Garnett, KS., Christopher (Melissa) Folkmann of Memphis, TN., Makenzie (Rob) Patterson of Boone, IA., and Joshua Wycoff of Nevada, IA., five step grandchildren; Jennifer (Doug) Myers of Belleville, WI., Julie (Jason) Brinkman of Cedar Falls, IA., Joel Jellings of West Des Moines, IA., Dakota Lueken of Ames, IA., Hunter Lueken of Colesburg, IA., nine great grandchildren, five step great grandchildren, one brother, Delbert (Helen) Romberg of Ocala, FL., and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jack Snoddy, second husband Don Jellings, her parents, one brother and three sisters. Her greatest love was her family and of friends whom were many. Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:30 AM, Thursday, May 5, 2011, at St. Paul United Methodist Church, Williamsburg. Pastor James Parks will officiate. Burial will be in the Pilot Grove Cemetery, rural Williamsburg. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 4-7 PM at the Powell Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Williamsburg.
