Phyllis Raye Foster, 70, of rural Lockridge, IA, died Tuesday, February 13, 2007, at her home. Visitation for Mrs. Foster will be held on Friday, February 16, beginning after 12 noon, at the Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel in Mt. Pleasant, IA, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, February 17th, at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Dianne Brokken officiating. Burial will be in the New Sweden Lutheran Cemetery near Lockridge. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to the First Augustana Lutheran Church, Hospice of Central Iowa, and the Lockridge First Responders. Born April 10, 1936, in Riner, VA, Phyllis was the daughter of Harry and Winnie Reynolds Fark. When she was ten years old, she moved to La Harpe, IL. Phyllis was a 1954 graduate of La Harpe High School. On July 4, 1954, she married her high school sweetheart, Eugene Foster in Burnside, IL. He survives. Phyllis was an active member of the First Augustana Lutheran Church in Lockridge, where she taught Sunday School for 17 years and was a member of W.E.L.C.A. She loved working with children and babysat in her home. She was a nanny for three years and for nine years worked at Community Childcare Center in Fairfield until she retired in 2001. She enjoyed reading, bird watching, and working in her flower garden. Along with her husband, Eugene, Mrs. Foster is survived by four sons, Duane Foster and his wife Marcia of Des Moines, IA, Dean Foster and his wife Debra of Hudson, SD, Dale Foster of Syracuse, NE, and Darrin Foster and his wife Carey of Denver, CO; her mother Winnie Fark of LaHarpe, IL; one brother, Harry (Ellen) Fark, Jr. of LaHarpe, IL; and two sisters, Dorothy Dobson of LaHarpe, IL, and Carole (Michael) Butler of Dallas City, IL. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Celina (Michael) Fleming, Jesse Foster, Cody Foster, Caleb Foster, Rebekah Foster, and Landon Foster, along with two great-grandchildren, Katherine and James Fleming. Mrs. Foster was preceded in death by her father and a daughter-in-law, Madonna Foster.
