Williamsburg-Phyllis Marie Caskey daughter of Elvin "Mick" and Erma (Dubishar) Mumm was born September 27, 1926, on the family farm in Pilot Township, Iowa County. She attended rural school in Pilot Township. Phyllis was united in marriage to Norman "Hoppy" Lewis Caskey on December 24, 1947 at the Methodist Parsonage in Williamsburg. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and was a volunteer for the Merry Monkey Makers. Phyllis enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning, going fishing, embroidering, watching basketball and the Cubs baseball, talking about the weather and spending time with her family. Phyllis passed away Friday, March 4, 2016 at the English Valley Care Center in North English with her family around her at the age of 89.
She is survived by her children: Barb (Art) Landuyt and Kenny Caskey all of Williamsburg, Jeanette (Allen) Himmelsbach of Marengo and Sherry (Mike) Pope of Williamsburg; a daughter-in-law: Sherry Caskey of Williamsburg; 13 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 3 sisters-in-law: June Caskey of North English, Doris Hanchett of Sigourney and Ethel Mumm of Lynnville. She was preceded by her parents, husband, a son Larry, a brother Melvin "Bud" Mumm and a great grandson Benton Meyer.
Celebration of Life Service will be 10:00 am Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at the St. Paul United Methodist Church in Williamsburg. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg. Memorials are for St. Paul United Methodist Church or Iowa City Hospice.
