Parnell- Phyllis Irene Hubbell was born August 12, 1945 in Marengo, Iowa, the daughter of Keith Garringer and Gerald & Lois (Hinder) Carney. She graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1963. On May 15, 1967 Phyllis was united in marriage to Albert William Hubbell in Lancaster, Missouri. She was a nursing assistant and unit clerk at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City for 36 years, retiring in 2000. Phyllis was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Parnell the Altar & Rosary Society, the Parnell Commercial Club and W/BC Bowling League. She enjoyed reading, going to the casino and was an avid Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeye fan.
Phyllis died on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at St. Luke's Lutheran Nursing Home in Spencer at the age of 75 years.
She is survived by her children Heidi (John) Kirschbaum of Spencer and James Hubbell; two grandchildren Owen Kirschbaum and Carly Hubbell; and numerous extended family members. She was preceded by her parents Keith Garringer and Lois & Gerald Carney, husband Albert in 2008, a son Chris William in infancy and her grandparents.
Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 am on Friday, December 11, 2020 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Williamsburg. Masks and social distancing will be required. The service will be live streamed on the Powell Funeral Home Facebook page. Burial will be in the Yankee Point Cemetery, near Parnell. Memorials may be given to Spencer Municipal Hospital Hospice.
