Peggy Aynes, 66, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Thursday, May 31, 2012, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington, IA following a five month battle with cancer. Visitation will be on Sunday, June 3, 2012, from noon to 6 p.m. at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel where the family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 4th at 10:30 a.m. at the Memorial Chapel with Pastor Mike Johnson officiating. Cremation will be accorded following the service and the ashes will be taken to Hawaii. Memorials are established to the Great River Hospice House or may be directed to the family. The daughter of James Koichi and Tatsue (Sawada) Matsuura, Peggy Asako Aynes was born August 7, 1945 in Maui, Hawaii. She attended Roosevelt High School in Oahu, Hawaii from which she graduated in 1963. She was married to John Willey, and later, Raymond Aynes. Each resulted in divorce. Moving to the mainland in 1963, Peggy took residence in New London, IA. She later moved to Mt. Pleasant. For over 20 years she worked at Motorola in the shipping and receiving department. For the past thirteen years she had worked as a cook at the Christamore Family Treatment Center. Peggy attended the Open Bible Church. She enjoyed playing cards and bowling. She especially enjoyed attending her grandchildren's activities and spending time with her family. Watching softball games was a favorite pastime. Being a breast cancer survivor for eight years, she participated in many fund raising activities for breast cancer research. Survivors include one son, John (Robin) Willey of Metamora, IL; one daughter, Shari Lynn Phipps of Mt. Pleasant, IA; six grandchildren, Nicholas Beal, Jesse Aynes, Brianna Beal, Kyhl Willey, Noah Willey and Nathan Dismang; one sister, Florence Fumiko Carson of Mt. Pleasant, IA; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding Peggy in death are her parents, and four brothers, Yukito, Kenji, Yutaka and Haruo.
