Pearl Gladys Mound was born February 2, 1911 in rural Keota, Iowa the daughter of Herman and Matilda (Kracht) Luers. She graduated from Keota High School. On April 30, 1933 she was united in marriage to Keith Mound at her parents home in Keota. She has lived in the Keota community all of her life where she owned and operated the Central Café for 45 years. She was a member of the United Church of Faith and a founding member of the L.G.V Club. Pearl enjoyed seeing people, visiting and making homemade pies. Pearl died on Monday, October 1, 2012 at the McCreedy Home in Washington at the age of 101 years. Pearl is survived by a son - Roger ( Nan) Mound of Plover, Wisconsin; five grandchildren, four great grandchild, and five great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Keith, a son James ( Patricia) Mound; three sisters - Louise Giles, Alma Turnipseed, Marie Britten; and two brothers - Albert and Carl Luers. Celebration of life service will be held 10:30 am Friday, October 5, 2012 at United Church of Faith in Keota, Iowa. Pastor Remigio Panlaqui will be officiating. Burial will be at the Keota Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:30 to 7 pm Thursday, October 4, 2012 at Powell Funeral Home in Keota. Memorial fund has been established for the Keota Fire Department and Keota QRS.
