Pauline Fern Yoder

FRYTOWN - Pauline Fern Yoder, the daughter of Murrie S. and Katie Miller, was born February 9, 1921 in rural Wellman, Iowa. She attended the Hickory Grove country school, and as a girl, helped on the family farm. She was baptized at the age of 12, on October 15, 1933, and was a lifelong member of Lower Deer Creek Mennonite Church. At 20 years of age, on July 6, 1941, she was united in marriage to Lester D. Yoder. She devoted her life to her family and her church. She supported Lester with the developing family business, was a member of the WMSC, MCC sale quilt committee, and taught Sunday school. Her greatest joy was her family. In retirement years, Pauline cherished friendships created through Lester's antique truck, wrench and tractor clubs. God gave Pauline the gift and enthusiasm for quilting, sewing, cooking, and baking; and blessed us with many works of art throughout her life. She passed away on Monday, June 24, 2019 at Pleasantview Home in Kalona from pneumonia at the age of 98 years.
Pauline is survived by four children: Loran (April) Yoder of Frytown; Joyce Yoder of Bethesda, Maryland; Shirley Yoder Bell of Frytown; Damon (Jan) Yoder of St. Charles, Illinois; and seven grandchildren: Michael Yoder, Nathan Yoder, Elaine Yoder, Erica (Hector) Morantes, CJ Yoder, Spencer Yoder, and Jamison Yoder. Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lester (2007), brother Stanley Miller (2013), son-in-law Gary Bell (2013), sister-in-law Audrey Miller (2013) and brother Wayne Miller (2018).

Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30am on Monday, July 1, 2019 at Lower Deer Creek Mennonite Church. Pastor Don Patterson will officiate. Burial will be in the Lower Deer Creek Cemetery. Visitation is Sunday, June 30, 2019 from 2:00pm to 6:00pm at Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona. Memorial contributions may be made to Pleasantview Home and Lower Deer Creek Mennonite Church.
