Pauline Beatrice King was born December 19, 1919 in Wellman, Iowa the daughter of Jess Ray and Pearl Edith (Cochran) Iames. She grew up in the Wellman area and graduated from the Wellman High School. Pauline was baptized at the Baptist Church at age 11. On July 6, 1937 she was united in marriage to Joseph L. King at the Baptist Church in Muscatine, Iowa. Pauline and her husband farmed in the rural Iowa county for 41 years, then moved to Frytown in 1978, on March 16 1987 Joseph passed away. In 1994 Pauline moved to Kalona. She was a member of the West Union Mennonite Church, was active in the church work, helping with Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and was a member of the WMSC. Pauline died Monday, August 25, 2014, at Pleasantview Home in Kalona at the age of 94.
Pauline is survived by a son: Kenneth (Penny) King of Sarasota, FL; a daughter: Edith ( Rufus) Kenagy of Garden City, MO; 8 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and 12 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Joseph, a son Robert, a brother Robert Iames and a sister Mildred Yoder.
Celebration of life service will be held 10:00 am Friday, August 29, 2014 at West Union Mennonite Church. Pastor Corey Miller and Pastor Martha Yoder will be officiating. Burial will be held in the West Union Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Powell Funeral Home in Wellman.
