Paul "Dutch" Lewis Miller was born July 7, 1921 near Kalona, Iowa the son of Eli L. and Anna (Gingerich) Miller. He attended Boone rural School and Sharon Township #5. On January 4, 1949 he was united in marriage to Nina Brenneman at the West Union Mennonite Church near Parnell, Iowa . Paul has lived in the Kalona and Wellman communities all of his life where he farmed and and drove truck for Home Gas for 30 years before retiring in 1990. Paul and Nina wintered in Texas for many years. He was a member of the West Union Mennonite Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family and traveling. Paul died on Monday, May 1, 2006 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following a brief illness at the age of 84 years. Paul is survived his wife Nina of Wellman; 2 daughters - Alice Theiler of Clinton, Missouri; Donna Steele and husband Dennis of Coralville; a granddaughter - Amanda Theiler; a sister - Cora Frey of Wellman; and a brother - Monroe Miller and wife Emma Jean of Kalona. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters - Ella Miller and Nettie Schrock; and 2 brothers - George and Eldon.
A memorial fund has been established for the West Union Mennonite Church, Wellman Senior Center or the donor's choice.
