Paul D. Miller was born July 6, 1927 in Kokomo, Indiana the son of Dan H. and Katie (Miller) Miller. On August 15, 1948 he was united in marriage to Grace Miller at the Fairview Mennonite Church in rural Kalona. They have lived in the Kalona community since their marriage where Paul farmed until 1962, and worked for Hershberger Feed from 1961-1994. Paul was a member of the Sunnyside Conservative Mennonite Church where he held many church offices and sang at many services. He served on the boards of Iowa Mennonite School, Pleasantview Home, Crooked Creek Christian Camp, Crowded Closet and the MCC Sale. He volunteered with Mennonite Disaster Services and enjoyed playing golf. Paul died on Wednesday, April 22, 2009, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following a short illness at the age of 81 years. Paul is survived by his wife Grace of Kalona; four children Karen Albrecht (Robert) of Eureka, IL.; Janice Godshall (Ken) of Lancaster, PA.; Merlin Miller (Monica) of Kalona; Kenneth Miller (Bev) of Harleysville, PA.; 13 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and six siblings - Anna Brenneman of Stuarts Draft, VA.; Henry D. Miller of Wellman; Levi D. Miller of London, OH.; Edwin D. Miller of Kalona; Daniel Miller, Jr of Boerne, TX; and Martha Shawver of Wichita, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday April 26, 2009 at the Sunnyside Conservative Mennonite Church in Kalona. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1-8 p.m. on Saturday at the church, the family will be present from 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. Yoder-Powell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
A memorial fund has been established for Sunnyside Conservative Mennonite Church and Mennonite Disaster Service.
