Paul J. Amudjeff, 84, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, passed away at 5:45 a.m. on Friday, August 12, 2016, at Park Place Elder Care.Visitation will begin after 12 noon on Thursday, August 18, 2016, at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mt. Pleasant, IA, where the family will greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. that evening. A devotional service will be held at 7:00 p.m., that same evening, at the Memorial Chapel, with The Rev. Mike Scudder officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family request that gifts of love and friendship be given to the family for a charity to be chosen at a later date. Born in Janesville, WI, on November 5, 1931, Paul James was the son of Tony and June Kempovich Amudjeff. He was a 1949 graduate of Janesville High School. On December 5, 1951, Paul enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and fought in the Korean War. On December 1, 1953, he was honorably discharged with the rank of corporal. Following his discharge, he served in the reserves for the following six years. On April 10, 1954, he married Dona M. Maves at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Edgerton.Following his discharge from the Marines, Paul became a radio dispatcher for Wisconsin Power and Light Company. Over the years, Paul took statistician and quality control engineering classes to help him with his career, which started when he worked as a quality control engineer for Honeywell in Freeport, IL. He continued as an engineer in various locations with a variety of companies for a number of years. At the end of his career, he was working for Rockwell Collins in Fairfield, IA, retiring in 1996. Confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Edgerton, Paul recorded sermons and delivered them to shut-ins. While in Mt. Pleasant, he was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing the accordion. He loved to trap shoot, listen to music from the big band era, and in later life spend many pleasant hours on his riding lawn mower doing yard work. Along with his wife, Dona, of 62 years, Paul is survived by a daughter, Faith (Tom) Buss of Cedar Rapids, IA. He is also survived by a grandson, Ryan (Tanille) Smith, and their children, Addison and Sullivan Smith, all of Chicago, IL, along with many beloved nieces and nephews on his wife's side of the family. Paul was preceded in death by his parents.
