Patricia Eileen Simon, was born April 2, 1934, near Holbrook, Iowa, the daughter of Pete and Elizabeth Duffy Kelly. She graduated from Parnell High School. After attending Ottumwa Heights College she taught elementary school for a number of years. She grew up in Parnell and later moved to Riverside. Patricia was united in marriage to Paul K. Simon on November 5, 1955 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Parnell. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Patricia was a member of St Mary's Catholic Church in Riverside and a member of the VFW Auxiliary. Patricia died on Thursday, September 14, 2006 at the Atrium Village in Hills, Iowa after an extended illness at the age of 72 years. Patricia is survived by her six children: Dave (Barb) Simon, Wayne (Dee) Simon, Dan (Tami) Simon all of Riverside, Iowa, Leanne (Dave) Amelon of Iowa City, Iowa. Jan (Mike) Freel of Washington, and Myrna (Joe) Boyle of Dubuque, Iowa; her 14 grandchildren: Megan, Nikki, Lindsey and Ashlee Simon, Jaime Simon, Brent, Matt, and Beth Amelon, Jared, Dana and Erin Simon, Brandon, Jenny and Mariah Freel; and a brother Jim Kelly of Parnell, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her Husband in 1989, her parents, brothers Kenneth (Bud) Kelly and Donald (Doc) Kelly, and sisters Kathleen Bean and Annabel Kelly. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am Monday, September 18, 2006 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Riverside. Fr. Rich Adam will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday from 3 to 8:00 pm at the church with a prayer service at 7:00pm. Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Riverside.
