NORTH ENGLISH-Patricia Jean Bish, age 84, of North English, formerly of Davenport, died Thursday, July 26, 2012, at the English Valley Care Center in North English. Patricia was born May 11, 1928, in Keswick, the daughter of Alanson Calvin and Frances Lavina (Sampson) McCay. She graduated from Keswick High School and the University of Iowa, with a degree in music. On June 29, 1952, she married Joseph M. Bish in Keswick. The couple lived in Davenport where Patricia taught music in the Davenport School System for many years. In 2003, Patricia moved to Highland Ridge in Williamsburg and later was transferred to the English Valley Care Center in North English. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Davenport and Delta Kappa Gamma. Patricia was a huge Iowa Hawkeye fan and enjoyed supporting her great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews in their activities, playing the piano and singing. Survivors include three nephews: Mark and wife Lizz (Beckman) Baethke of Urbandale, Larry and wife Denise (Gibson) Baethke of Williamsburg and Greg and wife Dawnetta (Olson) Baethke of Spencer; niece-in-law: Karen (Fleming) Baethke of St. Charles; 14 great nieces and nephews and ten great great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Joseph in 2002; sister: Phyllis Baethke; nephew: Gene Baethke and aunt: Elsie Sampson. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 29, 2012, at Powell Funeral Home in North English, with Hospice Chaplain Rebecca Carver officiating. Burial will be at Sorden Cemetery in rural Keswick. Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. until service time on Sunday, July 29, 2012, at the funeral home. A general memorial fund has been established.
