Pamela Ann “Pam” Lawson Nail, age 79 of Brooklyn, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at her home. A Graveside Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, July 8, 2023, Brooklyn Memorial Cemetery, Brooklyn, Iowa, with Rev. Josh Gerard officiating. Following the service, there will be a gathering of family and friends at the Front Street Tap in downtown Brooklyn. In lieu of flowers, cards and memorials may be forwarded to the family in care of Kloster Funeral Home, PO Box 341, Brooklyn, Iowa 52211.
Pam is survived by her children, Meshelle Van Ersvelde of Cedar Rapids, Michael Nail of Pensacola, FL, Robert Nail of Grinnell, Kathryn (Liesa) Nail of Brooklyn, and Kimberly Nail of Brooklyn; eight grandchildren, Mycha, Zachary, Kalee, Katie, Kerstin, Layla, Brayden and Aurora; 5 great grandchildren; and siblings, Mary Lawson (Alan Parinello) of Burton, TX, and Michael Lawson (Fran) of Stanton, IA.
She is preceded in death by her parents John Lawson and Kathryn Pfantz Lawson, brother John Walter Lawson II, son Jeffery Rodriguez, and great grandson Cameron Harris.
Pamela Ann was born April 21, 1943, in Grinnell, Iowa, the daughter of John and Kathryn Lawson. She graduated from BGM High School in 1961 and attended Flight School Academy in Kansas City. She moved to Texas in 1968. She returned to the Brooklyn area in the 1980’s and worked for Victor Manufacturing, in Victor, Iowa. She eventually retired from there.
Pam was a member of the Brooklyn American Legion Auxiliary Post 294, and also was a VFW Auxiliary member in Texas. She enjoyed reading history novels, puzzles, and games, including playing cards and horticulture. Genealogy was her passion and she spent much of her time researching the past. Her grandchildren were a delight to her, and she also loved spending time with the family.
