Otis R. Henkle, Jr, 60, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2019, at the Emergency Room of the Henry County Health Center.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2019, from 2:00 7:00 p.m., at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel where the family will receive friends from 4:00 7:00 p.m. that evening. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, July 19, 2019, at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel. Military rites will be conducted by Henry County Honor Guard. Burial will be in the Keokuk National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be directed to Kim Henkle, the use of which will be determined at a later date. Born October 24, 1958, in Keokuk, IA, Otis Roy was the son of Otis Roy and Dorothy June (Smith) Henkle, Sr. He attended Keokuk Senior High School with the class of 1977. Otis enlisted in the United States Army in September of 1986 and served as an Army Ranger Paratrooper stationed in Ft. Bragg, NC. He was then assigned to the Supreme Headquarters of the Allied Powers of Europe at the Pentagon. After three years, he was honorably discharged. Otis married and later divorced Marcia Lawson and Lisa Holman. He then married Kimberly Burden on April 21, 2005, in Mt. Pleasant.

A truck driver for several companies, Otis also worked at Keokuk Steel Castings and Goodyear Rubber (now known as Continental Conti-tech). For the past several years, Otis was the administrator for the Moose Lodge #1003, and assisted at the Mt. Pleasant Golf and Country Club.

A dedicated volunteer, Otis was involved as a Boy Scout leader, a member of the Mt. Pleasant Masonic Lodge

# 8 A.F. A.M., Mt. Pleasant Moose Lodge #1003, West Point Gun Club and a lifetime member of the NRA. Otis was an active participant in the Henry County Honor Guard, American Legion Post #58, and Mt. Pleasant Amvets Post #44, of which he was an officer.

In his early years, Otis enjoyed hunting and being outside in nature. More recently he loved riding his Harley and spending time with his granddaughter each day. Otis liked shooting at various gun clubs with family and friends. He was fond of animals, which included his dogs, Meero, Joe, and Millie.

Survivors include his wife, Kim of Mt. Pleasant, IA; three step-children, Zachary Burden of Mt. Pleasant, IA, Spenser (Leah) Burden of North Liberty, IA, and Sidney Burden of Puyallup, WA; a granddaughter, Payton Burden; one brother, Oron (Fran) Henkle of Hamilton, IL; a mother-in-law, Juanita Savely of Mt. Pleasant, IA; a brother-in-law, Kevin (Bethany) Savely of Atlanta, GA; along with nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. He is also survived by the family members of his previous marriages.

Otis was preceded in death by his parents.
