Orville Laurel John Weiss

Williamsburg- Orville Laurel John Weiss, was born September 4, 1931, near Williamsburg, Iowa, the son of Laurel & Amanda (Koester) Weiss. He graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1949. He served in the United States Army Infantry during the Korean War. He farmed in Iowa County for over 65 years. On December 17, 2014, Orville was united in marriage to Barbara McCune in North English. He enjoyed raising horses for 15 years, flying and farming. Orville died on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, at the age of 83 years.

He is survived by his wife Barb of Williamsburg; a sister Lucille Maas of Williamsburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his parents; a brother Laurel Weiss Jr. and a sister Lorene Bierschenk.

Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:30 AM on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at the Powell Funeral Home, Williamsburg. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery, Parnell. Visitation will be on Monday from 4-7 PM at the Powell Funeral Home, Williamsburg. Memorials may be given to Safe Haven of Iowa County or St. Joseph Cemetery, Parnell.
