Williamsburg- Orville John William Baack, was born August 27, 1922, near Homestead, Iowa, the son of Diedrich and Emma (Kummer) Baack.He was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church near Homestead. He attended country school and served in the United States Army Medical Corp, his first training in Ft. Jackson, South Carolina and later stationed in the Phillipines during WWII. Orville was united in marriage to Dorothy Emma Heitshusen on July 2, 1943 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, near Williamsburg. Together they lived and farmed south of Homestead for 68 years, before moving to Williamsburg in 2001. Orville was a active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, served on the Immanuel Lutheran School Board and he also was a past member of the Oxford American Legion. He enjoyed going to the sale barn to watch the sale and have a piece of pie. Orville died on Saturday, January 12, 2013, at the Highland Ridge Care Center, Williamsburg, at the age of 90 years. He is survived by two sons: James (Marcia) Baack of Williamsburg and Donald (Christina) Baack of Arlington, TX; six granddaughters: Lynn (John) Gahring, Amy (Doug) Harrison, Rose (Paul) Cutting, Emmie (fiancé Phillip Jones), Brandi (Billy) Roe and Amber Baack; and 10 great grandchildren: Logan, Grayson &Abbie Gahring; Tucker, Garrett & Samantha Harrison; Asa & Tilla and Ella Cutting and Bailey Roe; 2 sisters-in-law: Myrle Stanerson of Williamsburg and JoAnne Baack of Cedar Rapids and a brother-in-law: Clifford Heitshusen. He was preceded by his parents; wife Dorothy in 2012; two brothers: Ivan Baack and Clifford Baack. Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:30 am on Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Williamsburg. Rev. Richard Meyer will officiate. Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Powell Funeral Home, Williamsburg.
