Orpha B. Yoder was born February 23, 1920 in Wellman, Iowa, the daughter of Edward and Roseanna (Kelley) Schauf. She graduated from Wellman High School. Orpha was united in marriage to Ralph H. Yoder in 1941. He died in 1942. Orpha was later united in marriage to Raymond H. Yoder in 1947. She has lived in the Wellman and Kalona community all of her life, where she worked at Town and Country in Wellman and Parkview Manor as a CNA. Orpha was a member at the West Union Mennonite Church and WMSC. She enjoyed listening to music, puzzle books and crocheting. Orpha passed away Monday, March 14, 2011 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City at the age of 91 years. Orpha is survived by three children; Roseanna Yoder of Buchanan, MI, Becki Miller of Craig, CO, and Robert L. Yoder of Kalona, and a granddaughter Hannah Miller of Spokane, WA. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, two sons-in-law James Glaze and Arnold L. Miller, and four brothers Leon, Wilbur, Dale Schauf and an infant. Celebration of life will be 10:30 am Thursday, March 17, 2011 at the West Union Mennonite Church in rural Parnell. Pastor Martha Yoder and Pastor Ray Reimer will officiate. Burial will be in the West Union Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 pm on Wednesday at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona where the family will be present from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for Iowa City Hospice.
