KEOTA-Norman Renaud, age 79, of Keota, died Monday, January 16, 2006, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Norm was born May 28, 1926, in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, to George Frank and Yvonne Marie (Lanoue) Renaud. He graduated from Pittsfield High School, attended Iowa State College while in the Navy and graduated from Iowa Wesleyan College in 1950 with a B.S. in Chemistry and Engineering. Norm served in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Currituck during World War II and was sent to the South Pacific. He is entitled to wear the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Ribbon, Phillipine Liberation Ribbon with two Bronze Stars and the WWII Victory Medal. On November 6, 1948, he married Patricia Richardson in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. Norm worked as a civil engineer in New Hampshire, Connecticut, Wisconsin, New York, Europe and Puerto Rico before retiring and moving to Keota in 1990. Norm was a member of the Christian Reformed Church and attended the United Church of Faith in Keota. He was also past president of the Keota Lions Club and a member of the Keota V.F.W. Post #4716. Survivors include his wife: Patricia of Keota; four children: Dianne Look and husband Robert of Rothschild, Wisconsin, George C. Renaud and wife Karalyn of Warrens, Wisconsin, Denise Preston and husband Rev. Robert of Keota and Anthony D. Renaud and wife Corrinna of Phoenix, Arizona; 15 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; one sister: Eleanor Ecklund of West Stockbridge, Massachusetts and one brother: George Renaud of Hudson, Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother: Bernard Renaud. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 20, 2006, at the United Church of Faith in Keota with Pastor Sallie Graves officiating. Military rites will be provided by the Keota V.F.W. Post #4716. Burial will be at the Keota Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 19, 2006, at the Powell Funeral Home in Keota. A memorial fund has been established for the Washington County Humane Society or the Wilson Memorial Library in Keota. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Keota is handling the arrangements.
