Norman E. Wilkerson

Norman "Tib" Eugene Wilkerson was born in North English, Iowa on February, 13, 1929 to William Henry and Hattie Mae Morrison Wilkerson. Tib graduated from North English High School in 1946. He Served in the US Navy from 1946-1948. Tib married Bonnie Lou Wiersema on September 17, 1949 in Clinton, IA. He was employed at Clinton Foods in Clinton, Iowa, the North English Creamery where he was a cream route driver and finished his career at The University of Iowa motor pool with 30+ years of service driving the boys Football, Wrestling, Baseball and Basketball teams all around the country. He was a member of the VFW. Tib had many hobbies and activities including hunting, fishing, trapping, watching sports of all kinds but in particular Hawkeye sports and the St. Louis Cardinals. He also enjoyed many days and evenings at his children's sporting events and even got to see many of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren play baseball, softball, basketball, and even track and cross country. His love of the outdoors and sports was passed down to many of his children and their children. Tib died on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at Audie L. Murphy Memorial VA Hospital in San Antonio, TX. He lived 85 years.
Tib is survived by five children: Kristi (Tom) Klein of North English, IA, Suellen (David) Seaba of Lake Ponderosa, IA, Gregg (Elvia) Wilkerson of Converse, TX, Doreen Ducey of Charleston, SC, and Daina (Laura) Wilkerson of New Braunfels, TX.; nine grandchildren: Nikki (Tony) Rubino of Grayslake, IL, Tracee Wilkerson of San Antonio, TX, Devina Ducey of SC, Damien (Katrina) Wilkerson of San Antonio, TX, Aundi (Brent) Smith of Grinnell, IA, Jessica (Justin) Garrett of Marion, IA, Courtney DeMoss of Dubuque, IA and Sheridan and Karson Wilkerson of New Braunfels, TX; seven great-grandchildren: Jacob, Matthew and Josie Rubino, Hunter and Ava Weaver, Vincent Wilkerson and Nile Smith; four brothers and sisters: Frances Littrel of North English, IA, Edward Wilkerson of Ottumwa, IA, Dolores Wardenburg of Williamsburg, IA and Robert (Butch) Wilkerson of North English, IA. Tib was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and brothers Leonard, William (Dean), Clarence (Squirt) and Charles (Chod) Wilkerson.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, December 29, 2014 at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North English. Pastor Luke Caster will officiate. Visitation will be on Sunday, December 28th from 4PM to 8 PM at the funeral home. A general memorial fund has been established.
