Norman Calhoun, 64, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at Arbor Court. Graveside services for Mr. Calhoun will be at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, June 28, 2008, at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, with Pastor Jerry Van Hooser officiating. There will be no visitation at the Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family. The Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Born August 25, 1943, in Mt. Pleasant, IA, Norman was the son of George W. and Berniece M. Ford Calhoun. He attended Oakland Mills School. On May 18, 1985, Norman married Deanna K. Chapuis at the New London Methodist Church. She survives. A life-long resident of Mt. Pleasant, and construction worker for all of his life, Norman had worked for the Mental Health Institute in Mt. Pleasant and the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Burlington. For several years he worked for H. Eugene Smith Construction. Norman was of the Baptist faith. He loved to watch his son race cars and four wheelers. He enjoyed cooking, camping, fishing, and hunting. Along with his wife and his mother, Norman is survived by a son, William "Willy" Calhoun of Mt. Pleasant, IA; a daughter, Leanne Calhoun of Mt. Pleasant, IA; and three sisters, Kay (Clarence) Stearns; Dianna R. Miller, and J. Darlene (Ron) Bush all of Mt. Pleasant. He is also survived by three sons from a previous marriage and in-laws, Leo and Pat Chapuis of New London, IA. Norman was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
