SIGOURNEY-Norma Eyestone Icenbice, age 79, of Sigourney, died from complications of a stroke Wednesday, January 26, 2005, at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City. Norma was born September 26,1925 in Salina, Iowa to Charles and Alta (Hampsher) Eyestone. Norma grew up in Brighton graduated from Washington High School in 1942. On December 31, 1949 she married Dean Icenbice at the United Methodist Church in Washington. Following marriage, the couple lived and farmed east of Sigourney until 1951 when they moved to a farm south of Sigourney. In 1960 the couple moved to Sigourney and Norma worked at several places over the years. She worked at the Extension Office, was the Deputy Treasurer, Board Secretary at Sigourney High School, was the Office Manager at Keokuk County Health Services and Dean and Norma owned and operated Icenbice Insurance. Norma was a member of the Sigourney United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and several circle groups. She enjoyed quilting and vacationing in Florida, where the couple spent many happy winters. Survivors include her husband Dean of Sigourney; three sisters: Louise Whetstine of Wellman, Geneva Zihlman of Burlington and Jean Knight of Des Moines; a brother-in-law: Gene Trask of Winterset and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Clifford and Dale; two sisters: Dorothy and Evelyn. Funeral services are set for Saturday, January 29, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Reynolds-Powell Funeral Chapel in Sigourney with Rev. John Hembry officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery following the service. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Friday Reynolds-Powell Funeral Chapel. A general memorial fund has been established. Reynolds-Powell Funeral Chapel and Cremation Service in Sigourney is handling the arrangements.
