SIGOURNEY-Nina E. Wemer, age 89, of Sigourney, died Friday, September 29, 2006, at the Ottumwa Regional Health Center in Ottumwa, following a brief illness. Nina was born February 3, 1917, near Thornburg, to Fred and Evelyn (McClune) Roth and graduated from Gibson High School. On February 22, 1936 she married James A. Wemer in Gibson. The couple lived in the Gibson and Sigourney communities where Nina was a homemaker. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Sigourney, where she was active in the United Presbyterian Women and Dorcas Club for over 50 years. Nina was also a member of the Always Welcome Club in Sigourney. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include one daughter: Karen deNeui and husband Ronald of Wellsburg; one son: Jerry Wemer and wife Fumi of Melbourne, Florida; five grandchildren: Jeff DeNeui, Paul deNeui and wife Chris, Bryan deNeui and wife Charlette, Barbara Wessels and Tim Wemer and wife Karen; 10 great grandchildren: James, Jessica, Emma, Grace, Josie and Samantha deNeui, Danielle and Sydni Wessels and Jared and Madison Wemer and one sister-in-law: Lena Boehm and husband Skip. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband: Jim on April 4, 2003. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 2, 2006, at the United Presbyterian Church in Sigourney with Rev. Mike Conn officiating. Burial will be at Sixteen Cemetery near Thornburg. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 1, 2006, at the Reynolds-Powell Funeral Chapel in Sigourney. A general memorial fund has been established. Reynolds-Powell Funeral Chapel and Cremation Service in Sigourney is handling the arrangements.
