Keswick dateline... Neta E. Snakenberg, age 91, died on Thursday, November 8, 2007 at the English Valley Care Center in North English. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Powell Funeral Home in North English on Sunday, November 11, 2007 at 2:30 PM. Rev. Paul Hooks will officiate. Burial will be in the Sorden Cemetery near Webster. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, November 10, 2007 from 4-8 PM. Messages and tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com under obituaries. A general memorial fund has been established. Neta E. Snakenberg was born on May 29, 1916 near Rose Hill, IA, the daughter of Ralph and Mary Lisk Sarver. She graduated from Rose Hill High School and Iowa State Teachers College. She taught country school for a short time. She was united in marriage to Roy Ernest Snakenberg on May 1, 1938. They farmed in the Keswick community until retiring in 1977. Neta attended the Community Church, rural Deep River. She enjoyed reading her Bible and gardening. Neta became a resident of the Care Center in December 1995. She died following a brief illness on Thursday, November 8, 2007 at the English Valley Care Center in North English. Neta lived 91 years, 5 months and 10 days. Neta is survived by her children: Margaret George of Buenos Aires, Argentina; Phyllis Peterson of The Colony, TX; Rose Mary Stevens of Alto, MI; Max Snakenberg of Harlingen, TX; Lyle Snakenberg of Harrison, TN; Laura Lee Ward of New London, IA; Loretta Ensor of Johnson, NE; Dick Snakenberg of Tiffin, IA; Carol Ensor of Tecumseh, NE; 33 grandchildren; 64 great grandchildren; three sisters: Retha Abrams of Osaloosa, Wanda Tysseling of Newton and Doris Malley of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Neta was preceded in death by her parents, husband in February 2002; a grandson Mark Peterson; two brothers: Donald and Ralph and one sister: Eva Leet.
