Pleasant, IA, died Monday, December 24, 2007, at Arbor Court. Mrs. Vandersnick's body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be in the Forest Home Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. Memorials have been established to the Henry County Animal Rescue Organization, and may be left at the Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel who is assisting the family with the arrangements. Born May 9, 1905, in Wayland, IA, Nelle Marie was the daughter of John and Nellie Bain Schroll. On September 17, 1924, she married Frank Sylvester Vandersnick. He preceded her in death on January 2, 1979. Nelle was a lifelong resident of Henry County. In her early years, Nelle worked as a dental and medical assistant for various area dentists and physicians. After her marriage, she enjoyed being a homemaker. She also assisted in the food preparation for her daughter LaFaune's restaurant, Van's Lunch. Nelle will be remembered for her many years of service as the coordinator for the Henry County Animal Rescue Organization. Survivors include two daughters, Beverlee Hagerman of Cedar Rapids, and Juanita Allender of Peoria, IL; six grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, seventeen great great-grandchildren and one great great great-grandchild. Nelle was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Frank Vandersnick; two daughters, LaFaune Vandersnick and JoAnne Frost; two sisters, Goldie Christner and Emma Allender; two brothers, Espy Schroll and Alfred Schroll; and by one granddaughter.
