Parnell- Nedra Maxine Dhondt was born November 25, 1929 near North English, Iowa the daughter of Otis Henry & Pearl Agnes ( Polton) Claypool. She attended school in Parnell and Williamsburg. On January 9, 1948 Nedra was united in marriage to Marvin James Dhondt at the St. Paul United Methodist Parsonage in Cedar Falls. She worked for Owen's Brush, University of Iowa Hospitals in housekeeping, was a hostess at Middle America Restaurant, Ben Franklin and sold Avon. Nedra was a member of the Williamsburg VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing, playing bingo and cards, gambling and watching the Iowa Hawkeyes. She was a very good cook of wild game. Nedra died on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 in Prairie City, Illinois at the age of 89 years.
She is survived by her children Jerry (Rita) Dhondt of Williamsburg and Samra (Johnny Bowman) Ollendick of Prairie City, IL; nine grandchildren Clementine Kuster, Jennifer Jennings, Jared Dhondt, Brian Shaull, Michael Martinson, Jonathan Ollendick, Mary Dhondt, Angela Dhondt and Adam Nace; 17 great grandchildren; 1 great, great grandchild; and a life long friend Phyllis Shull of Williamsburg. She was preceded by her parents, husband Marvin, a son Rick Dhondt, a grandson Matt Dhondt, a son-in-law Joe Ollendick, a sister Leora Woodward and a brother Charles Claypool.
Celebration of Life Service will be held 12:00 pm on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg. Burial will be held at a later date in Yankee Point Cemetery, rural North English. Visitation will be on Saturday, from 10 am to 12 pm at the funeral home.
