Naomi Ioan Penrod, was born September 11, 1909, in Brooklyn, Iowa, the daughter of Charles Presley and Ethel Pearl (Porter) Hartgrave. She graduated from Conroy High School. She lived in Iowa and Missouri. She married Eduard Gustave Kleinmeyer on February 20, 1936. He preceded her in death September 18, 1959. She later married Guy Allen Penrod on December 10, 1976. He preceded her in death on January 3, 1981. She worked for the Collins Radio Company. Naomi enjoyed reading, crocheting and being with her family. She died on Thursday, September 16, 2010, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, at the age of 101 years. She is survived by her children: Jeanne (James) Garringer, Williamsburg, Edward Kleinmeyer, Cairo, MO, Gayle (James) Fanning, Huntsville, MO, Judy (Eldon) Penrod, Huntsville, MO and Mary Polhamus, What Cheer; 19 grandchildren; 44 great grandchildren; 17 great great grandchildren; and 4 siblings: Frances Porter of Vinton, Robert Hartgrave of Fairfax, James Hartgrave of Cedar Rapids and Betty Craddock of Vinton. She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; a son Robert Kleinmeyer; a grandson: Randy Fanning; and 8 siblings: Harold, Clyde, Clarence, Velma, Thelma, Charles, Mary, and Billy. Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 AM on Monday, September 20, 2010, at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Williamsburg. Pastor Jim Bringman will officiate. Burial will be in the Yankee Point Cemetery, near North English. Visitation will be held Sunday from 4-6 pm at the Powell Funeral Home. A general memorial fund has been established.
