Amana- Nancy Louise Kosiba was born November 15, 1934 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Richard Winfield and Rachel Louise (Huffman) Mercer. She graduated from Parkersburg High School in West Virginia and DePauw University in Greencastle, IN. She was in the Delta Gamma Sorority at DePauw. Nancy lived most of her life in Parkersburg, WV where she was a French and English teacher for many years . She also was active in the Junior League and her church. Nancy was united in marriage to Joseph T. Kosiba in February 1997 in Parkersburg, WV. They truly enjoyed spending time together traveling, praying, singing and dancing. Nancy had a spiritual gift for hospitality and always knew how to have fun. Nancy and Joe moved to Highland Ridge Presbyterian Home in Williamsburg in April 2008 then moved to Lakeview Village in Amana in 2012. Nancy died very peacefully on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at Colonial Manor at the age of 78 years. She is survived by her husband: Joe of Amana; a daughter: Laura Mercer Rice of Cambridge, MA; a sister: Brenda (Wayne) Giddings of Iowa City; a niece: Catherine (Bond) Shymansky of Milwaukee, WI and a nephew: Dwight ( Lorinda) Cruikshank of Columbia, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents. Celebration of Life Service will be 11:00 am on Saturday, April 20 2013 at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Williamsburg, Iowa. Pastor James Parks will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 until service time at the church with lunch to follow at the church. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Services are caring for local services. Burial will be at the Edgar County Cemetery in Paris, IL on Tuesday, April 23. Memorials are for St. Paul United Methodist Church in Williamsburg.
