Myrna Lee Rose, age 68 of North English, died following a long illness at her home near North English on Wednesday, September 8, 2004. Myrna Lee was born on December 7, 1935 in Sigourney, IA, the daughter of Lewis E. and Imo Cora Reed Miller. She graduated from North English High School in 1953. She graduated from St. Luke's Hospital School of Registered Nursing in 1956. As an RN, Myrna Lee worked as a head nurse in the St. Luke's delivery room for two years and later was employed by Drs. Moon and Ingle, surgeons, in Cedar Rapids. She also worked at the English Valley Care Center in North English. Myrna Lee was united in marriage to George Harmon Rose on March 3, 1957, at the North English Christian Church. They lived a short time in Cedar Rapids before making their home on the farm near North English. She and Harmon farmed for many years and raised feeder pigs. She enjoyed traveling with her best friend and husband, Harmon, for several years before his death in 1993. Myrna Lee was a member of the North English Christian Church and the Aspasia Chapter of the Eastern Star in Sigourney. Myrna Lee served as worthy matron of the North English Chapter, OES, in 1964. Myrna Lee is survived by a son Steven Rose and wife Kandace of Middle Amana; a daughter Susan Finley of Marengo and a grandson Zachary Rose. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a grandson Ryan Michael Rose. An Eastern Star Service will be 7:30 Saturday Evening at the Powell Funeral Home
