SIGOURNEY-Minnie (Milburn) Tollenaar, age 95, of Sigourney, died Tuesday, August 1, 2006, at the Manor House Care Center in Sigourney. Minnie was born February 2, 1911, near Keswick, Iowa, to William and Linnie (McClenahan) Milburn. She graduated from Keswick High School in 1929, then attended college and taught country school a short period of time. In 1933, Minnie graduated from the Iowa School of Beauty in Des Moines. She was a beautician in Knoxville for two years, then returned to Sigourney and opened the "Ok Beauty Shop" in 1935, retiring in 1999. On April 12, 1936 she married Tom Tollenaar in Ainsworth, Iowa. Minnie was a member of the Sigourney Christian Church, numerous organizations and was a platinum member of the National Cosmetology Association. Survivors include her son: Richard (Rick) Tollenaar of Sigourney; daughter-in-law: Wanda Tollenaar of Sigourney; three grandchildren: James (Bill) of Nixa, Missouri, Rhonda (Mrs. Richard) Huffman of Sigourney and Thomas (Tom) and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Tom; son: Ronald (Ron); three brothers: Alferd, Art and Howard and two sisters: Della and Nella. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 4, 2006, at the Reynolds-Powell Funeral Chapel in Sigourney with Revs. Don Ridenour and Frances Baumert officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Sigourney. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 3, 2006, at the funeral chapel. A memorial fund has been established for the Pleasant Grove Cemetery Association. Reynolds-Powell Funeral Chapel and Cremation Service in Sigourney is handling the arrangements.
