Mildred M. Meyer, 98 of Amana, died Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at The Gardens of Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 on Thursday, April 27, 2023 at the Middle Amana Church, Middle Amana, Iowa. Funeral service will be at 10:30 AM on Friday, April 28, 2023 at the Middle Amana Church with Elder Tony Berger officiating. Burial will be in the Amana Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Amana Church Society, or the Amana Heritage Society. Kloster Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mildred was born January 12, 1925 in South Amana, Iowa to Henry and Maggie Leichsenring Ackermann. Following graduation from Amana High School in 1942, Mildred attended and graduated from Paris Academy of Beauty in Cedar Rapids. She was a beautician for more than 20 years. On October 25, 1945, Mildred married Henry J. Meyer in Amana Iowa. They spent 75 wonderful years together. Mildred volunteered for 22 years at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, serving as president of Mercy Hospital Auxiliary. She served her Amana community as a Board member of the Amana Heritage Society, treasurer of the Amana PTA, and a leader of Camp Fire Girls. Mildred was a very talented artist, especially in her paintings, sculptures, needlework, and many other creative endeavors.

Mildred is survived by her son Tim (Pam Goschke) Meyer of Amana; two grandchildren, Wayne Gregg (Melissa Barloon Wolfe) of Amana, and Kim Park Nelson (Peter Park Nelson) of Minneapolis; one beloved great granddaughter Paige Gregg of Oxford; two great-great grandchildren, Jaxon and Kinslie Boyce of Oxford; three nieces, Nancy Armbrister (Gary) of Dallas TX, Peggy(Les) Roemig of Middle Amana, Wendy (Eckhard) Ziegler of Iowa City; a nephew Les (Linda) Ackerman of South Amana; and many great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Henry in 2020; a daughter Cynthia Gregg; her brother Harry Ackerman; in-laws Harold Meyer, Blanche Meyer, Louisa Meyer Ackerman, and Rosa Ackerman; and two nieces Judy Ackerman Tarvin and RuthAnn Meyer Nicholson. Mildred spent her life caring for, and loving her family and home, as that was her greatest joy. Mildred’s family would like to thank The Gardens of Cedar Rapids for the years of loving care they provided her.
