Mrs. Wade was born June 13, 1915 in Millersburg, Iowa to Leon Dennis and Hazel O. King Cover. She grew up in Millersburg and North English and married William Lyle Wade on June 4, 1936 at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa. She lived in Wellman since 1936. She attended high school and Paris Beauty Academy in Iowa City and owned and operated a beauty shop in Wellman for three years. She was a housewife and CNA and Activities Director at the Shenk Nursing Home, Wellman for eleven years retiring in 1977. Mrs. Wade was member of the Order of Eastern Star (Past Matron) and Asbury United Methodist Church. Her service included Past Most Excellent Chief of Pythian Sisters, Past Worthy Matron of Eastern Star, President of ALC federated Club, Past President of Mothers Club, taught Sunday School at Asbury United Methodist Church many years, President of UMW, and Secretary-Treasurer for Southeast Iowa District of Activity Directors. Our Mom and Grandma demonstrated what true grace is all about. Never complaining these past few years although suffering debilitating arthritis and several broken bones, she greeted everyone with a smile. Mil always accepted whatever life gave her with a shrug of the shoulder and an attitude of "I can't change it so live with it". She endeared herself to all that cared for her at the nursing home and her many visits to the hospital. Mrs Wade is survived by daughter Lyla Lee Walder and husband Ralph of Sashe, TX and son Jon Dennis Wade and wife Donna of Wellman, four grandchildren; Jennifer Marie Nicholson (and Trevor), Wellman, Corey Jon Wade (and Debbie), VanMeter, Andrew Leon Wade (and Crystal), West Chester and April Lee Walder (and Bob), Sashe, TX; seven great-grandchildren: Derek, Tyler and Joshua Nicholson, Hunter Walder, and Brandon, Ella and Lianna Wade, brother Kenneth Cover and wife LaVonne of West Des Moines and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of seventy years, Lyle in 2006 and sisters Velma VanAuken and Verla Gingerich.
