Mike Hileman

Michael "Mike" Hileman, 62, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Wednesday, January 19, 2011, at his home surrounded by his family following a courageous battle with cancer. Visitation will begin after 12:00 noon on Friday, January 21, 2011, at the Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. that evening. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Faith Christian Outreach Church with Pastor Monte Knudsen officiating. Inurnment will be held at the North Hill Cemetery in Wayland at a later date. Memorials may be directed to his wife, to assist with medical expenses. The son of Everett and Edith (Kauffman) Hileman, Mike was born on February 24, 1948 in Mt. Pleasant. He attended WACO High School and graduated in 1966. After high school he attended Cedar Rapids Barber School. He was a member of the Army Reserves. On November 4, 1972, he married Niki Walters in Burlington, IA. Mike worked as a barber, and was a partner in A Touch Above Family Salon in Mt. Pleasant. He later worked as an over the road truck driver retiring from Shelman and Sons Trucking in 2009. An avid NASCAR fan, he watched many races on TV and attended races at Newton. He had an ability to fix anything, and enjoyed woodworking and building toy boxes for his grandchildren. He especially enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He was a member of Faith Christian Outreach Church. Survivors include his wife, Niki; five children, Nichole (Harley) Hess of Clive, IA, Shelley (Dan) Walderbach, Bret ( Bridgette) Hileman, Jamie (Bobby) Forseen and Matt (Chrystal) Hileman all of Mt. Pleasant, IA; a brother, Bill Hileman of Wayland, IA; a sister, Patty (Roger) Rullman of Aurora, IN; and ten grandchildren, Spencer, Jacob, Elijah, Kylie, Sophia, Bryton, Brooklyn, Bryce, Kane and Kaden. He is preceded in death by his parents.
