Michael Watts, 62, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Wednesday, December 4, 2013, at the Henry County Health Center. Visitation will be held from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday, December 8, 2013, at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel where the family will receive friends. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow at 3 p.m. with Chaplin Jim Luder officiating. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his name and may be directed to his family. Born January 18, 1951 in Mt. Pleasant, IA, Michael John was the son of Harold Howard and Winifred Louise (Finn) Watts. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant Community High School in 1969. Michael was married five times. He first married Carolyn Hummell, followed by Karen DeLong, Kay Bruce, Toni Duckett and Kathy Hogan. He is survived by his significant other, Joyce Denning. Michael began his working career as a mechanic at Sheets Motors in Mt. Pleasant. He then was a manager at Pizza Hut in Knoxville and Mt. Pleasant. For a period of time, he worked at Vega Industries in Mt. Pleasant. Moving to Cedar Rapids, IA, he worked as a machine operator at both Gail Industries, and for over 20 years, at Cryovac-Sealed Air. Returning to Mt. Pleasant, he worked as a cashier at Wal-Mart. His greatest passion was spending time with his children and grandchildren. A talented Chevy mechanic, he enjoyed working on all types of motors, took pride in his new John Deere tractor and entertained his grandchildren with Go-carts. He enjoyed fishing. Along with Joyce Denning of Mt. Pleasant, IA, survivors include three daughters, Machelle Lowe of Mt. Pleasant, IA, Wendy Ganzevoort of Cedar Rapids, IA and Tiffany Watts of Oelwein, IA; a son, Christopher (Trisha) Watts of Cedar Rapids, IA; two brothers, Lyle (Peg) Watts and Roger (Rhonda) Watts all of Cedar Rapids, IA; a sister, Becky (Jeff) Beavers of Mt. Pleasant, IA; and seven grandchildren, Shelby, Colton, Spencer, Gabriel, Isaiah, Chase and Saige. He is also survived by his stepfather, Keith Smith, of Mt. Pleasant, IA. Preceding Michael in death are his parents.
