Michael Leonard Becker was born October 13, 1951, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Albert John Becker and Betty Lou Holst Becker. Michael served his country as a member of the United States Army. Mike and Karen Serbousek were married in 1982 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He worked as a journeyman sheet metal worker for “47 years, but who’s counting”, with Sheet Metal Union Local #263. Mike was a “well respected teacher” for the apprentice program.

Mike was a man known and loved by many for his strong character and his clever wit. He was no stranger to adversity and faced every obstacle with a matter-of-fact attitude. He was an avid birdwatcher, kayaker, and mushroom hunter. He loved to count eagles along the Cedar River during his frequent long drives with his daughter whom he was very close to. He was a Hawkeye fan and loved the Iowa Women’s Basketball Team well before the rest of the country did. Friends and family could count on Mike to buy the most obnoxious toys for their children.

Mike was brilliant and could do anything people thought he couldn’t do - with one hand nonetheless. He was quiet and reserved but when he had something to say everyone listened. His quips will be retold on barstools for years to come. He will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.

Mike is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 41 years, Karen; a daughter Corissa (Jamie) Prull; two brothers, Tim Becker (Teresa), and Jason Becker (Mandy); two sisters, Barbara Robinson (Frank), and Carrie Usher (Tim). Also surviving are three grandchildren, Dalton Young, Jamison Prull, and Canaan Prull; and a great-grandchild, Addisin Young, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Betty Becker, and his mother-in-law, Shirley Serbousek.
