Williamsburg-Michael Dudley Galyon was born June 15, 1998 in Nacogdoches, Texas, the son of Andrew and Misty (Thorndyke) Galyon. He lived in Gibson City, Illinois before moving to Williamsburg in 2014. Michael was a May 2017 graduate of Williamsburg High School, were he had been active in football and wrestling. He was employed at Under Armour in Williamsburg and was a sports official for high school football and USSSA baseball. He was enlisted to serve in the United States Army next month. Michael enjoyed working out in the gym, ICOR in Iowa City and spending time with kids, especially helping with youth wrestling. Michael passed away on Friday, September 22, 2017, due to an auto accident at the age of 19 years.
He is survived by his parents: Andrew and Misty Galyon; a brother: Korban Galyon; a sister: Kathryn Galyon all of Williamsburg; grandparents: Gary and Cindy Galyon of Nacogdoches, Texas and Grace Strebeck and Lee Feldman both of Gibson City, Illinois; three aunts: Sara Thorndyke of Gibson City, Illinois, Alana Bundrant of Nacogdoches, Texas and Julia Pelletier of Denver, Colorado and an uncle: Patrick Galyon of Lubbock, Texas along with numerous extended family.
Celebration of Life Service will be Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 4:00 pm in the Williamsburg High School Auditorium. Visitation will be in the auditorium from 1:00 to 4:00 on Saturday. Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg are caring for Michael and his family.
In lieu of flowers a Williamsburg High School scholarship fund has been established in Michael's name at US Bank in Williamsburg.
