Michael D. Boal, 62, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died unexpectedly Friday, May 16, 2014, at his home. Visitation will begin at 12 noon on Monday, May 19, 2014, at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel of Mt. Pleasant, where the family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. that evening. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel, with Pastor Mary Kathryn Hart, of Finley Chapel United Methodist Church, officiating. Inurnment will follow at Finley Cemetery. Memorials have been established to Finley Chapel or Finley Cemetery Association. Born February 12, 1952, in Mt. Pleasant, IA, Michael Dean was the son of W. Dean and Mary A. Eubank Boal. Mike attended grade school at Olds and WACO. When Mike started Jr. High his family moved to Mt. Pleasant where he enjoyed participating in basketball, track, football, and baseball. He was a 1970 graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School. A heavy equipment operator, Mike worked for local construction companies for many years. He then became an over the road driver for Monfort of Greeley, CO and other companies. Most recently, he was shop maintenance director for Mt. Pleasant Electric. Mike's passion was traveling all over the United States and Canada with his job, and he especially enjoyed riding his Harley in the mountains of Colorado. He loved all sports and was an avid Denver Bronco, and Iowa Hawkeye fan. Mike was a member of Finley Chapel United Methodist Church. Mike is survived by three sons, Chad (Marti) Boal of New London, IA, Mitch (Tasha) Boal of West Burlington, IA, and Nathan (Azra) Boal of Des Moines, IA; his mother, Mary Boal of Mt. Pleasant, IA; and four sisters, Amy (Paul) Eiserman of Mundelein, IL, Jean (Kim) Holtgrewe of Mt. Pleasant, IA, Valerie Boal of Burlington, IA, and Rosemary (Steve) Burnett of Oskaloosa, IA. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, along with aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. Mike was preceded in death by his father and a step-grandson, Malcom Magel.
