Merribeth Taivalkoski

Merribeth Taivalkoski, age 61, of Marengo, passed away Monday April 30, 2024. There will be no services. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Merribeth is survived by two brothers, Chuck Taivalkoski and Lisa Phillips, her close friend, and Kris (Pamela) Taivalkoski; a sister, Karyn (Scott) Thomas; and extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and a longtime friend, Frank Egidi.

Merribeth was born on December 21, 1962, in Michigan, to Weldon and Suzanne (Shrake) Taivalkoski. She attended Southfield public schools in Southfield, MI. Merribeth worked in the janitorial and landscaping industry. She also co-owned a tanning salon in the 90’s called Tone & Tan in Coralville. She was outspoken and strong-willed earning her the nickname, “Little Bull.” She loved all cats, especially her own - Baby, Melvin and Mona. She was very sentimental and saved letters and cards that she received. She enjoyed watching reality tv shows and beadwork. She liked listening to classic rock and today’s hits. Her laughter was a melody to hear. She had a great sense of humor and a huge, loving heart.
