SIGOURNEY-Meriam Ruth Little, age 77, of Galveston, Texas, formerly of Sigourney, departed this life on Tuesday, October 3, 2006, at her home in Galveston. Meriam was born on March 26, 1929, in Sigourney, the only child of Harry Banning and Mildred (Sturdevant) Reynolds. After Harry Reynolds' early death, Mildred married James Barlow. Meriam graduated from the University of Northern Iowa and taught Junior High School prior to her marriage to Richard E. Little, also of Sigourney. During their marriage, the couple traveled around the world due to Richard's long Air Force career. Meriam worked for 20 years as a sorority house mother for Kappa Kappa Gamma at the University of Iowa. Meriam was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include four children: Michael Little of Overland Park, Kansas, Linda Kehoe of Sydney, Australia, Debbie Palizzi and husband Randy of Denver, Colorado and Diane Rosen of Galveston, Texas and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 14, 2006, at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Sigourney, with Rev. Jim Bringman officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Reynolds-Powell Funeral Chapel and Cremation Service in Sigourney is handling the local arrangements.
