Maxine M. Lee, age 94 of Sigourney and formerly Webster, died on Saturday, December 10, 2011, at the Sigourney Care Center in Sigourney. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Webster United Methodist Church on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at 10:30 AM with Pastor Jim Stout officiating. Visitation will be at the Powell Funeral Home in North English on Monday, December 12, 2011 from 4 PM to 7 PM. Burial will be in the South English Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established for the Webster United Methodist Church and Keokuk County Hospice. Memorials and tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com under obituaries. Maxine Margaret Lee was born on September 17, 1917, in South English, Iowa, a daughter of Amos Ross and Mabel Estelle Herr Seitsinger. She grew up in the South English and Kinross communities and graduated from Kinross High School. Maxine worked at Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids nine years. On February 12, 1949, she was united to Woodrow Franklin Lee at the Kinross Christian Church, in Kinross. They made their home and farmed in the Webster area. Maxine was a member of the Webster United Methodist Church, the UMW and the Women's Club and True Blue Club. Maxine was also a life member of the Eastern Star. She loved her family, enjoyed crafts and cooking. She became a resident of the Sigourney Care Center in July 2003. Maxine is survived by two sons: Ken Lee of Vinton, IA and Rick Lee of Sigourney, IA; three grandchildren: Jessica Lee and fiance Brian Bergquist, Elizabeth McLaughlin and husband Chris, and Jaclyn Lee and fiance Jonathan Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Dennis Lee in April 1992, her husband in September 2004, and brothers Wayne Seitsinger and Earl Seitsinger.
