Williamsburg-Maxine M. Lortz was born October 2, 1912 at home near Williamsburg, Iowa, the daughter of Jacob M. and Lulu N. Wolf Lortz. She attended Pilot Grove rural school. Maxine enjoyed caring for her family, raising chickens and playing the piano. She was a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church in Williamsburg. Maxine lived in the Williamsburg community until 2002 when she became a resident at Parkview Home in Wayland, Iowa. Maxine died Saturday, February 3, 2007 at the Parkview Home in Wayland after an extended illness at the age of 94 years. She is survived by her nieces and nephews: Eileen Rinehart, Lenora Engelbert, Leland Lortz, Don Lortz, Bonnie Brown and Susan Windsor; a number of great nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law: Catherine Lortz and two cousins: Elaine Lortz and Harlan Lortz. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers: Myrl, Thurman K., Ralph, Byron and Max. Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 6, 2007 at the Uhlmann-Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Williamsburg. Pastor James Parks will officiate.
