North English- Maxine Irene Voss was born October 18, 1926 in Melrose, Iowa, the daughter of Steven & Mary (Biros) Kasper. She graduated from Melrose High School and spent two summers at Drake University. Maxine was united in marriage to Owen West Voss on November 15, 1958 in Des Moines, Iowa. She taught in rural schools and was a secretary for White Line Transfer in Des Moines. Maxine was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in North English and the Altar & Rosary Society. She enjoyed cooking, looking at cookbooks, word search puzzles, gardening, butchering chickens, going to ball games and especially spending time with her family. Maxine died on Sunday, September 26, 2021 at the English Valley Care Center in North English, at the age of 94 years.
She is survived by her children Patricia Voss of Cedar Rapids, Bob (Susan) Voss, Tom (Nancy) Voss all of North English, Jerilyn Voss of Little Elm, TX and Jim (Raemalee) Voss of Ankeny; seven grandchildren: Lynston (Ben) Schamberger, Clayton (Chelsea) Voss, Allison, Zachary (Bri) Voss, Rylee (Bryant) Sutfin, Kennedy (Austin Schulte) Voss & James Voss; eight great grandchildren: Paxton, Sawyer & Truett Hummer, Levi Schamberger, Jolie, Calynn & Conner Voss and Lucas Sutfin. She was preceded by her parents, husband Owen, seven brothers John, Steve, George, Joe, Peter (infant), Mike and Paul; and two sisters Mary Glumac and Anne Kasper (infant).
A Celebration Of Life Memorial Mass will be held 10:30 am on Thursday, September 30, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in North English. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at the Powell Funeral Home in North English. Memorials may be given to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
