Webster Dateline... Maxine Evelyn Sorden, age 88, of Coralville and formerly of Webster, died Sunday, November 6, 2005 in her home in Coralville after a sudden illness. A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North English at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 10, 2005. Burial will be in the Sorden Cemetery near Webster. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 9, 2005 from 6 PM until 8 PM. Maxine Evelyn Sorden was born on March 21, 1917, in Webster, IA, a daughter of Frank and Fern Marshall Wright. She attended school and graduated from Webster High School in 1935.She worked at the Webster railroad depot for several years before becoming the postal clerk. Maxine was united in marriage to Hal S. Sorden on November 25, 1939 in Sigourney, Iowa. They lived in the Webster community most of their lives. She retired from the Post Office in 1972. Hal preceded her in death in December 1987. Maxine has lived the past 17 years in Coralville. She was an avid Chicago Bulls fan. Maxine died on Sunday, November 6, 2005 in her home in Coralville after a sudden illness. She lived 88 years, 7 months and 16 days. She is survived by sons Gary Sorden of Coralville, IA and Randy (Linda) Sorden of Burlington, IA; 4 step grandchildren: Contessa Tremmel, Conterra Batie, Jesse Tremmel, & Consuela Tremmel; 5 step grandchildren and a brother Dean LaVonne Wright of Phoenix, AZ. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter Sharyl Nebel and a brother Derald Wright..
