Max Carl Fitz, age 76, of Brooklyn, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, in Hiawatha. Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 1, 2017, at Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn, with Rev. Brent de Silva officiating. Visitation will be 9 to 11 a.m., Saturday, April 1, 2017, at Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn. Burial will be in the Moline Memorial Cemetery, Moline, Illinois, at a later date.
Max is survived by a son Jesse Ray Fitz, of Newton; six siblings Marilyn (Damon) Hill, California, Judy (Carlos) Hernandez, of Brooklyn, Edward Holderman, of Garland, Texas, Terry Holderman, of Fort Worth, Texas, Cindy Miller, Palestine, Texas, and James Holderman, of Texline, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Helen Holderman.
Max Carl Fitz was born January 6, 1941, in Gary, Indiana, the son of Renville “Bud” and Helen Garrett Holderman. He graduated from Rock Island High School, Rock Island, Illinois, in 1959. He married Mary Wood in 1960, and later divorced. Max served in the U.S. Army from 1963-1969, stationed in Vietnam. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time at the lake.
