Matthew William Caster was born on October 28, 1979, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Samuel and Jane Kendall Caster. He was baptized at the Pleasant Grove Grace Brethren Church. He grew up in the North English community and graduated from English Valleys High School in 1998. Matthew worked at Holden Foundation Seeds and Williamsburg Manufacturing before moving to Blairstown where he was a lead plant operator at Xethenol, a bio-fuel plant, the past 11 years. Matthew enjoyed fishing, camping, and being outdoors with his dog Jack. He loved spending time with Jami, his family and friends, playing video games with his brother, and making gourmet meals Matthew died as the result of an auto accident near Marengo on Sunday, April 10, 2011. Matthew is survived by his parents Samuel and Jane Caster of rural North English; five brothers and sisters: Mark (Lindsey Shriver) Caster of Marengo, IA; Luke (Jena) Caster of Hendersonville, TN; Melissa (Will) Luers of Keota, IA; Jessica Caster of North English, IA; and John Caster of Albia, IA; 6 nieces and nephews; and his girlfriend Jami Kimm of Blairstown, IA. Matthew was preceded in death by his grandparents, Don & Betty Kendall and Richard & Carolyn Caster. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, April 14, 2011, at the Powell Funeral Home in North English, with Pastors Edwin Jordan and Mel Kendall officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, rural Martinsburg, IA. Visitation will be from 5 PM to 8 PM on Wednesday, April 13th at the funeral home. A general memorial fund has been established.
