Mary M. Richenberger, 97, of Mt. Pleasant, died Monday, April 11, 2011, at Pleasant Manor Care Center. Open visitation will be held beginning at 12 noon until 7 p.m., on Wednesday, April 13th, at the Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel of Mt. Pleasant. At 5 p.m. that evening a rosary will be recited at the Memorial Chapel. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, April 14th, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, with the Rev. Joseph Phung, celebrant. Interment will be in the St. Alphonsus Cemetery. A memorial has been established to St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Born March 11, 1914, Mary Margaret was the daughter of Joseph and Emma Glanzman Richenberger. She was a 1932 graduate of Pleasant Lawn High School and a lifelong resident of the Mt. Pleasant area. As a young adult, Mary worked in the office at Iowa Wesleyan College. Following her employment at the college, Mary pressed clothes at Smitty's Dry Cleaners. For the remainder of her working years, she worked in the catalog department of Montgomery Ward. Mary was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church where she was an active participant of the Daughters of Isabella and the Altar and Rosary Society. For years, she faithfully cleaned the linens for the church. She enjoyed cooking and reading. Survivors include a niece, Beverly Kennedy of Mt. Pleasant, IA, along with numerous great-nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Frank Richenberger and Harold Richenberger; and a sister, Florence Heater.
