KEOTA-Mary Margaret Greiner, age 87, of Keota, died Thursday, July 9, 2009, at the Washington County Hospital in Washington. Mary was born November 8, 1921, near Harper, Iowa, to John and Clara (Sondag) Redlinger and was valedictorian of St. Elizabeth High School class of 1940. On May 23, 1944, she married Everett F. Greiner at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Harper. The couple lived and farmed south of Keota. Mary was a member of Holy Trinity Parish, the Altar and Rosary Society, T.L.S. Club and taught religion classes. She enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, going to the casino, flowers, gardening, cooking and traveling. Survivors include 13 children: Earl (Tanya) Greiner of Richland, Barbara Warnke of Navarre, Florida, John (Ann) Greiner of Keota, Dean (Debra) Greiner of Brighton, Jean (Dick) Haifley of Keota, Marvin (Deborah) Greiner of Keota, Milo (Denise) Greiner of Keota, Myron (Karen) Greiner of Richland, Steve (Becky) Greiner of Richland, Leslie (Candy) Greiner of Keota, Shirley (Craig) Buehneman of Sigourney, Nancy (Thomas) Weber of Keswick, Lisa Greiner of Keota; 30 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; three brothers: Bernard and John Redlinger, both of Harper and Cletus Redlinger of Solon and sister: Virginia O'Donnell of Iowa City. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Everett in 1996; grandson: Justin Greiner; son-in-law: Jim Warnke; two brothers: Alvin and James Redlinger and sister: Leola Redlinger. Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 13, 2009, at Holy Trinity Parish-St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota with Rev. Rich Adam officiating. Burial will be at Holy Trinity Cemeteries-Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery in rural Harper. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 12, 2009, at Powell Funeral Home in Keota. A memorial fund has been established for Ss. Peter & Paul Clear Creek Heritage Association. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Keota is caring for Mary and her family.
