Mary Lou Myers, 83, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Thursday, May 09, 2013, at Park Place Elder Living. Visitation will begin after 12 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel where the family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. that evening. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 16th, at the Memorial Chapel with Reverend Eric Twietmeyer officiating. Interment will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to Iowa Hospice or First United Methodist Church. The daughter of Ralph Wilson and Fern Naomi (Short) Lee, Mary Lou was born on June 8, 1929 in Mt. Pleasant, IA. She grew up in rural Danville and graduated in 1946 as her class salutatorian from New London High School. On April 17, 1948 she married Lloyd Arthur Myers in the Methodist Church at New London, IA. Mary Lou worked as a bookkeeper at the Danville Elevator. Always a homemaker, she helped her husband with the family farm for many years while also working at Farm Bureau. She later did the bookkeeping for the P.E.O. Home. A long-time member of Pleasant Hill Church, Mary Lou participated in the Good Samaritan Society. She later joined the First United Methodist Church where she belonged to the United Methodist Women, Grace Circle, and would visit shut-ins. For many years she volunteered at the Methodist Church Midwest Old Threshers Food Tent and in the gift shop for the HCHC Auxiliary. She was a member of Chapter NZ of P.E.O. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and was a wonderful seamstress. Survivors include two daughters, Charlotte (Steve) Powers of Chino Hills, CA, and Beverly Jo (Ken) Bauer of Waterloo, IA; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ron (Jessica) Lee of Roosevelt, UT. Preceding Mary Lou in death are her parents; husband; two brothers, Frank Lee and William Lee; and a sister, Marlys Thomas.
